Clodagh Design is a multi-disciplinary design studio based in New York City and today we will learn more about them and their hospitality projects. The studio has a wide portfolio of awards as well as projects in over 24 countries. Clodagh Design is also known for its broad range of eco-conscious projects and products.

Clodagh Design lives by the motto “Life-Enhancing Minimalism”. Clodagh, the founder of the studio, believes that good design is made to support well-being and that it has the ability to transform people’s lives. The designer was one of the firsts in the field to adopt feng shui – a pseudoscientific traditional practice originating from ancient China, which consists of using energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment.

1- East Hotel Miami

The mission behind this project was to provide an inclusive and warm welcome and hospitable experiences to its guests, while also reflecting the spirit of Miami. A combination of materials, colours, lighting and comfortable furniture was used, paired with luxurious sculptural pieces and curated art.

2- Whiskey Blue Ft. Lauderdale

Clodagh was invited by Rande Gerber to create a space that would reflect the relaxed sexiness inherent of Whiskey Blue’s location. The colours and shapes were chosen to transmit this ambient and to create an inviting atmosphere that no one can resist.

3- Dining at Six Senses Kaplankaya

The large restaurant offers a daily rich breakfast buffet, making sure to use the freshest ingredients, local cheeses and cold cuts from the region. You can also have a taste of a full international dinner buffet with Mediterranean influences.

4- Six Senses Douro Valley

This Resort and Spa located in Portugal was planned having in mind all the elements and senses, to bring a full experience to the visitors. Clodagh made use of authentic and honest materials, working with local artisan and craftsman to provide a luxurious retreat with a serene and quiet atmosphere.

La Société, Paris

The restaurant La Société is the result of a partnership between Jean-Louis Costes and Christian Liaigre. It personifies the cultivated, refined, cosmopolitan spirit of the neighbourhood, which was once the epicentre of publishing and literature. The restaurant has its very own atmosphere, a mix of French brasserie and British gentleman’s club.

Raw wood, marble, mahogany, and leather, among other materials used in this project, combine to create a muted, restrained aesthetic that fits the restaurant’s sophisticated, purposefully timeless design. Browns, beige, grey, and white combine to generate a sense of tranquillity and comfort as soon as you walk in.

In this specific project, Liaigre reflects a delicate combination of English heritage, Chinese culture, and French design. True to himself, the design was based on the artist motto “fit in the context” — rooting inspiration in local culture, customs, and lifestyle.

Furniture pieces and lightings are exclusively drawn and custom made for the project. That allows Christian Liaigre to reflect what the client wishes.

The use of refined materials—Liaigre’s signature style—are met with a contrasting palette that pairs whites with the deep shades of wenge and teak woods. This combination allows a perfect balance between sophistication and comfort.

3. Pas D’Art, Stockholm

Located in the heart of Stockholm is Pas d’Art, an iconic brasserie once known as Cafe Wiener. Oozing glamour, color, and heritage, the new Pas d’Art brasserie is warm and vibrant, serving guests from breakfast through to dinner.

A harlequin pattern-inspired painted ceiling looms overhead and echoes the curves and art deco influences of local architecture whilst Murano glass wall lights shaped like faces adorn the walls and nod to the Swedish art movement, Swedish Grace. A mixture of banquette and dining chair seating is divided by frosted glass panels, helping to create a relaxed yet private ambiance, perfect for dinner with friends and family.

Discover The New Hôtel Saint-Marc in Paris by Dimorestudio

Dimorestudio is a Milan-based full-service, global architectural and design studio that spans residential, retail and hospitality projects, in addition to, producing furnishings, textile and lighting designs under the name of Dimoremilano.

Immerse in the vibrant patterns and retro colors, the new Hôtel Saint-Marc’s aesthetics is a mix of the Art Deco era with a vintage vibe. Dimorestudio was selected to Design that charm of yesteryear and incorporate a fresh style into the spaces, adapting the spectacular architectural details to a concept that mixes vintage with original creations made to measure.

Paris is a city that lives a balance between the past and the future, which is breathed in its streets and buildings. The Hôtel Saint-Marc is no exception as it is located in a building dating from 1791, which has been part of major social and architectural transformations.

At the lobby, guests are welcomed by a combination of white and black marble, in the purest French tradition. Refined tones and furnishings in sumptuous velvet create a warm feeling in the common areas. Some accessories and custom furniture pieces were made to contrast the classical architecture and to the art deco elements present.

Composed of 25 rooms, the interior design studio created each one of them as a private area for each visitor to take ownership of the place. They use 6 base colors that alternate in each room, ranging from a mustard tone to a green pine.

This chromatic selection brought a touch of the 60s – 70s to the style, which was given a twist with a contemporary concept of the modern furniture that adapts to the needs of today‘s travelers. The Parker Palm Springs has numerous villas one of which is the name of the cowboy singer, named Gene Autry, who owned and resided there in 1961, and notably forms the atmosphere of Hollywood and comprises of several design furniture items from a collection by Jonathan Adler.

The Austin Proper Hotel & Apartments consists of a sculptural building of 32 storeys, which merge a 244-room hotel with 99 premium residences.

Located at the cultural crossroads of the Second Street District in the centre of Austin, the project was created as a consequence of visual cooperation between Kelly Wearstler, Handel Architects, and McGuire Moorman Hospitality.

The building is located within Austin’s creative core, with the design supervision of Kelly Wearstler, who takes into account the distinctive influences of artistic and craftsmanship traditions, which are unique to the Texan city. Austin’s most majestic luxury residences have a rich, unique atmosphere.

Eye-catching details include a sculptural staircase installation of 60 patch-worked vintage rugs and a monolithic timber and ceramic grandfather clock in the lobby of Kelly Wearstler’s boutique hotel. Surfaces add textural interest, with local artists and materials featuring prominently throughout. Such elements include pots, trays and cabinet inlay tiles by ceramicist Rick Van Dyke; locally quarried travertine on the pool deck; Delta wood paneling; native elmwood; and antique mirror finishes.

Each of the 244 rooms and suites counts Austin as a muse and is heavily influenced by local craft, from raw travertine sourced from nearby quarries to original fiber artworks by Magda Sayeg and trays by Rick Van Dyke. Branded touches include Kelly Wearstler x Parachute Home robes and signature Proper beds layering Simmons Providence Mattresses, Fili D’oro, and Bellino Fine Linens.

In 1970, Achille Salvagni was born in Rome. Achille Salvagni Architetti was founded in 2002, and he has received worldwide acclaim for his award-winning luxury residences and superyachts.
Along with his architectural practice, he established Achille Salvagni Atelier, a studio dedicated to the production of his limited-edition furniture and lighting, in 2013. Following the success of the Atelier in both Italy and the United States, Salvagni opened the Achille Salvagni Atelier at 12 Grafton Street in Mayfair to display his most recent creations.

The London Atelier showcases a selection of Salvagni’s iconic pieces in an intimate domestic setting, allowing collectors and design enthusiasts to witness firsthand the uncompromising craftsmanship that goes into each work. The works are realized by Rome’s rich collection of skilled artisans renowned for their traditional techniques found in the Vatican City and among the cabinet makers of the Quirinal Palace, using only the noblest materials; mahogany, rosewood, royal oak, laurel, onyx, bronze, and gold to name a few.

Continuing this legacy, even the smallest details of the Atelier’s works, from patina selection to custom door handles and hinges, are the result of exacting attention to detail, scrupulous craftsmanship, and historical reflection. With a couturier’s eye for detail, Salvagni is committed to preserving authentic touches in his contemporary offerings, bringing the decorative grandeur of the Roman Empire into entirely modern pieces.

The New Azimut

Ever since Achille Salvagni designed his first yacht interior, he has been perfecting his approach to these unique living spaces.

In the process of building a modern interior design in this luxury yacht, he cultivated the perfect ambience and designed a ship’s interior, including a type of environment that anyone needs when visiting Capri one day, Côte d’Azur another day, and in the Caribbean yet another.

Achille Salvagni addressed each of those points for the interiors of a recently completed 115-foot Azimut yacht. The living spaces are all about curves and every element exudes a supple elegance conducive to absolute ease and rest, from the elliptical master staircase, with its leather-finished, backlit onyx steps, to the salon’s vast circular seating area and the lobby’s wavelike mahogany console. In the main cabin, ingenious “wings” with a contemporary design extend from the headboard to enfold round-edged nightstands.

In the owner’s suite, Achille Salvagni adorns this space with two luxury furniture pieces: a custom lacquered wood-and-brass desk and a chair in a Dedar fabric. The vessel’s luxurious deck bar has a luxury design and is crafted from glossy mahogany with chrome inserts. The living area includes Dedar fabrics and silk rugs with a contemporary design. Besides this, all the sinuous lines are present on custom pieces by the designer.

His approach continues to eschew pure decoration and focuses instead on spatial composition: fluid surfaces detach from the walls to form an independent system, using spatial elements that flow seamlessly while nevertheless establishing distinct volumes.

The superyacht spaces are divided on the basis of a succession of contrasts between full and empty, between polished dark wood surfaces alternating with portions of a ceiling and large areas featuring light-coloured woods. Every detail has been carefully researched to convey and celebrate the key themes of the interior design: selected pastel elements stand out against the broad chalk and butter-coloured leather surfaces, infusing them with a sense of wellbeing and suggesting an atmosphere of complete relaxation.

Since its unveiling, “a long list of clients has asked to have exactly the same boat,” says Achille Salvagni, who describes himself as “above all an architect, then a designer, and thirdly a decorator.”

Yabu Pushelberg has humanized the scale of the hotel’s vast interior halls with subtle renditions of Middle Eastern motifs, such as bronze accents on low-slung furniture, typical mashrabiya screens rendered onto towering columns, the floor-to-ceiling windows in the 284 bedrooms and suites, and privacy screens in the bathrooms, polygonal-shaped lamps, and soaring timber arches that recall the gentle bend of desert palms. This interior design project really demands luxury and elegance.

For this hotel design, there was no such thing as too much, shyness or simpleness. Yabu Pushelberg truly pushed the boundaries of normative interior design and went all-in with the world’s largest crystal Lasvit chandelier in the lobby, which reflects such beautiful light when the sun meets with the precious and refined glass.

The long and gold staircase to heaven leads you to mesmerizing divisions that enhance luxury and beauty such as 438sqm Royal Suite and a double-storey spa that, to be honest, is one of the most beautiful divisions of this Yabu Pushelberg project. A true oasis of luxury!

If wood species and pure lines are Patrick Gilles’ language, Dorothée Boissier plays with colours, spatial fluidity and innate elegance to brighten spaces up. Having been working together since 2004, Gilles and Boissier have completed all kinds of projects, both nationally and internationally, from residences to hotels, luxury stores to contemporary restaurants.

This project clearly shows the marvellous and unique combination of the styles by Gilles and Boissier. Everyone would be amazed by this perfect combo. Of course, we left the best part for the end. This is the outdoor section of the Cafe De L’Homme.

Usually, people say that you can see the Eiffel Tower from anywhere in Paris, however, you don’t always have this close of a view, and so clear as well. Here you can sit at a stunning dining table and have the perfect French meal while looking at one of the most iconic landmarks in the entire world.

Continuing with our design “tour” of the beautiful Café De L’Homme, you can appreciate the designers’ incredible talent from this perspective, from which one can pay attention to the stunning design created by Gilles and Boissier.

The Proper brand embodies a ‘looser’ kind of luxury design, tapping into the local and surrounding culture in a way that appeals to long-term stays and staycationers just as much as holiday visitors.

Kelly Wearstler took lead from classic Santa Monica history, both visual and cultural, throughout the hotel that enhances a very modern design. Striking objects dot the public spaces, a result of custom collaborations with L.A. artisans for original artworks and monolithic installations, including Ben Medansky, Morgan Peck, Tanya Aguiniga, Len Klikunas, and Bradley Duncan.

An assemblage of both new and vintage pieces add to the layered aesthetic and sense of the unexpected. In this Boutique Hotel, interior designer, Kelly Wearstler’s signature flair for eclectic materials and textures are restrained within a neutral palette.

Private spaces relate to Santa Monica’s iconic coastal lifestyle and unique design, featuring a multifaceted mix of organic tones and textures. 271 rooms are split across two separate wings, one contemporary and the other more retro, set within the original Spanish Mission building.

In the retro wing of this luxury hotel, Kelly Wearstler plays up the throwback aspect with floral wallpaper, deco lights, and peach skirting. The contemporary wing is more, well, contemporary, some with exposed concrete walls, easel-mounted flatscreens, and sculptural mid-century furniture.

Following Monaco, Hong Kong and Mexico, the partnership continues between Ricardo Giraudi, creator of the Beefbar restaurant concept in 2005, and interior architects Emil Humbert and Christophe Poyet.

The respect for this masterpiece would be the pivot axis of the project, but it was mandatory to restored as it deserved, for which they brought together the best craftsmen, manufacturers of mirrors, painters, decorators, willing to give once again to that jewel the splendour of yesteryear.

This historical and aesthetic pattern inspired the studio, accustomed to creating elegant and peculiar environments, to play the contrast between the old and the extremely contemporary, “a game of love between sobriety and eccentricity”, as they themselves claim, repainting the imposing work following the spirit of the old times, in shades of green and bronze.

Saturated colours and contemporary furnishings contrast with the industrial ceiling and the black and minimalist exterior. Art Nouveau-inspired carpets, and Art Deco motifs, all in a vibrant nod to the city’s rich design history.
