The designers of the studio sought to reimagine the space through the lens of a contemporary theater aesthetic. Luxury Hotels: Discover Jaw Dropping Castelbrac Dinard Hotel – Open since June 2015, Castelbrac’s 5 stars hotel with its 25 rooms and suites is composed of three buildings, each having its own character forged through the ages. The rooms are pleasantly integrated, offer a variety of space, and are all oriented toward the sea.
The atmosphere is serene. From the Superior Room to the Prestige Terrace Suite, all offer the same comfort and upscale amenities. Some rooms are also available for people with reduced mobility, while others allow for joining rooms by private corridor, especially suitable for families with children.
The architectural backdrop is absolutely astonishing. It is said that when British Colonel Robert William Hamilton set eyes on it in 1872 he exclaimed, “What a bric-a-brac!” due to the architectural layout of the villa, a composition of several mismatched buildings. However, the charm of this private mansion seduced the Crimean war hero and he bought it to be his own residence. Soon the transformations began with the aim of giving it the appearance of a British castle with an elevation, battlements, and stables overlooking the street. The English were avid naturalists and the Colonel installed large glasshouses in the garden that he called his “Green houses”.
The colonel’s wife, Charlotte-Marie Hamilton, who is said to have been a very fashionable lady, immediately took charge of the interior. Her inspiration was the English movement “Arts and Crafts”, the equivalent of Art Nouveau in France, while giving a feminine twist to the somewhat masculine architecture of the mansion. When designer Sandra Benhamou, in collaboration with interior designer Léonie Alma Mason, took on the project of transforming this hotel’s interior in 2012, they had the same challenge.
“I wanted to create a warm atmosphere, a female lightness. Maybe this architecture has something masculine and I have brought femininity, gentleness”. The challenge was to keep the place authentic while “projecting it into modernity,” says Sandra Benhamou, who refused to “fall into the trap of nostalgia”. She decided to keep the old character of certain elements (wooden ceilings, a fireplace, beautiful stairs), to redo others identically (woodwork, parquet floors), while bringing to everything a touch of “quiet sophistication and assumed eclecticism”.
The inspiration was an art deco style mingled with the sea. Consequently, throughout the hotel we see art deco projected in elements such as ironwork, the central staircase, and smaller details such as door handles, switches, faucets, headboards and frames.

Lifestyle Hotels: Oustanding Pestana CR7 Hotels – Cristiano Ronaldo and Pestana Hotel Group opened the first CR7 hotel on July in Funchal, Madeira Island. The opening marks the ‘kick off’ of the partnership between Dionísio Pestana and Cristiano Ronaldo – who both hail from Madeira. Legendary Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has invested more than $40 million into a range of hotels in Madeira, Lisbon, Madrid and New York called CR7 after his successful underwear, footwear and fragrance companies.
The joint venture, which is co-owned by both Ronaldo and Pestana Hotels, will be managed by The Pestana Hotel Group and will be located in four spectacular destinations; Lisbon (in the Historic Downtown), Madrid (on the Gran Vía) Madeira Funchal (fronting the Cruise Harbor) and New York (steps from Times Square).
Inspired by Ronaldo’s CR7 brand, the boutique hotel in Madeira combines Art Deco with contemporary style and is designed with the modern day millennial traveller in mind, allowing them to stay connected to the world throughout their stay. High-speed Wi-Fi will be available in all indoor and outdoor spaces and each room will include Apple TV as well as Bluetooth audio and HDMI connections.
Pestana CR7 Funchal will feature just 49 keys with 25 CR type rooms, 23 CR superior rooms and one CR7 Suite. In addition to all the facilities of the CR rooms, the CR7 Suite will include a Playstation 4, Virtual Reality Glasses and games, and even equipment for cardio workouts complete with a self-developed workout plan.

We have already mentioned Brody House on our list of “Top 5 Most Beautiful Boutique Hotels in Budapest” this week, but we love the design concept and interiors of this magnificent and stylish hotel so much we felt like telling you a little bit more about it.

Brody House operates as a quirky boutique hotel with 11 unique and individually designed bedrooms within a neo-classical heritage building in Budapest’s palace quarter. The building survived the ravages of the Second World War, the Hungarian uprising of 1956 (that started at the Hungarian radio station a few doors down Brody Sandor street) and the fifty years of neglect and poor maintenance that followed.
Prior to its conversion into a boutique hôtel in 2009, founders William Clothier and Peter Grundberg resided in the property, along with their artist friends, hosting cultural salons and dinner parties. They named the house after Hungarian writer, Sandor Brody, and ‘his’ street at which the house is sited.
Brody House remains a work in progress, undergoing various loving restorations since its inception. Each room in this hotel is unique and named after an eponymous Brody House artist who either used to have a studio at Brody House or have since collaborated with the Brody House Group.
The rooms were often their former studios and feature vintage up-cycled furniture, paint stripped walls and contemporary art. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms, some even have a free-standing bath in the room for those wo would like to enjoy some special, decadent champagne moments.
Etienne’s room
Named after French artist, Etienne Claret de Fleurieu who spent two years in Budapest living and working in the house. Among his collectors is French fashion designer Agnes B. Etienne currently resides in Brussels.
Ludo room
Another French artist, Ludo Thiriez, worked in Brody House and received valuable guidance from Etienne. Ludo works between Sao Paulo, Paris and Budapest. Clothes hanging space in the room is made from wooden offcuts.
Photo room
Budapest has a strong history of famous photographers and photographic works such as Robert Cappa. The photo room features work from Christopher Everard (UK), Tibor Papp (HUN) and Attila Lóránt (HUN).
Eszter’s shoe box
In attempt to make use of the grand ceiling heights and inspired by Terrence Conran’s book on small spaces – a second level was constructed to house a double bed.
Droga room
International artist and sculptor, Bo Droga (Australia) became friends with the founders while working in London. On each periodic trip to Budapest Bo creates and contributes a new piece of artwork for his room. Bo currently lives and works in Paris.
Yeresko room
Yan Yeresko from Belorussia was introduced to Brody House by Alex Tinei. Yan currently has an atelier in Brody Studios and spends his time in between Minsk and Budapest.
Tinei room
Alex Tinei, encouraged by the founders, set up his first atelier in the house and was the first artist to start working here. He considers the move was instrumental to his professional career. Alex since has found success internationally and currently has an atelier at Brody Studios.
