Although the lobbies aren’t our focus point when it comes to choosing our accommodation, the lobby is our first impression of any establishment and should reflect the hotel design and the kind of experience we are about to have away from home.

So, forget boring reception desks, the world’s 15 most luxury hotel lobbies go beyond the normal, aiming to impress from first sight.

Due to open in 2016, the Zaha Hadid-designed Me Dubai hotel is set to be one of the UAE’s most distinctive properties. Newly released renderings show its centerpiece will be a vast, sinuous lobby. In advance of the hotel’s completion, we look at other hotels around the world with incredible, imposing luxury lobbies.

Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton hotel in Muscat, Oman, welcomes guests with a reception area that is palatial and ornate. It’s one of the best hotel projects and for sure will make you feel special when walking into this magnificent lobby.

The Norman Foster-designed Me London offers to their guests one of the most immersive, interesting check-in experiences ever. Different nights, mean different graphics that are projected into the walls, from expanding grids to floating jellyfish and starscapes.

Luxury hotels are characterized by treating their guest by the most unimaginable way. Rather than checking in as normal, they’re taken to the property by water taxi and check in at the hotel‘s jetty where they are treated to hand massages and a fruit cocktail. Did you package already?

There’s a lot going on in the Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 reception area. Its proximity to the airport means a constant stream of tearful partings and joyful reunions are marked here and you can have the opportunity to have a Musetti coffee out of Italy.

In Kowloon in Hong Kong, Hotel Icon houses Asia’s largest indoor vertical garden within its lobby. French botanist and artist Patrick Blanc designed the feature, which measures 18 meters in height and covers 230 square metres.

Just when you though it couldn’t get any better. The lobby of the Hyatt Regency San Francisco is the world’s largest and, in our opinion, one of the best luxury lobbies.

The lobby’s at Barceló La Bobadilla  design may seem unusual to tourists, it is actually inspired by the Palatial architecture of Granada and near by Cordoba, when they were under the Nazrid Dynasty in the 14th century.

It’s seems like you’re in a Disney movie but you’re only at the lobby of the 125-year-old Raffles Hotel Singapore which is appropriately classic and agreeably imposing.

 

The Burj Al Arab is the distinctive sail-shaped hotel off the coast of Dubai.

It’s one of the most romantic reception and is situated on an island that is surrounded by thousands of gently flickering candles. You’ll find this lobby at Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Krabi, Thailand.
