Charlotte Street Hotel is located in the Soho neighbourhood and was designed by Kit Kemp who drew inspiration from the Bloomsbury Group, featuring original art from the group, including by Vanessa Bell, Virginia Woolf’s sister, as well as a moral in brasserie reflecting scenes of ‘contemporary London Life‘.
Charlotte Street Hotel‘s building was an old warehouse hence the structure is industrial on the outside and contemporary within. Kit Kemp reinvented the interiors of Charlotte Street Hotel with the influence of the Bloomsbury Group aesthetic and 21st-century flair. The hotel has a small but cosy lobby with a fireplace and armchairs, a library and drawing room and Oscar, the bar and restaurant.
Kit Kemp‘s pattern and designs can be found everywhere in the hotel, from soft furnishings to frames on corridor walls. Gorgeous patterned fabrics dominate the decor and the interior designer created an exclusive wallpaper print taken from an 18th century Hogarth Press woodcut just for the Charlotte Street Hotel.
The Charlotte Street Hotel has fifty-two rooms with patterned headboards, statement wallpapers and scatters cushions; the bathrooms are in marble with bathtubs or walk-in-showers. The bedrooms go from Queen Room to Loft Suite, the signature One Bedroom Virginia Woolf Suite, Penthouse Suite, Superior Loft Suite and Two-Bedroom Suite.
The restaurant & Bar Oscar has a typical British cuisine and cocktails: from spicy and fragrant frilled squit to homemade gnocchi with butternut squash and sage. In the library/drawing room, guests will also find a bar. The hotel also offers an event and meeting space, a screening room for the hotel regular film nights, and special events such as afternoon tea.
