Hotel Ottilia is located in the vibrant Carlsberg City District, in Denmark, between iconic brewery buildings and new and inspiring modern architecture. The Hotel is named after Ottilia Jacobsen, the wife of the brewer and founder of the Carlsberg breweries, Carl Jacobsen.
The Hotel Ottilia‘s building is the gathering of two of the area’s most distinctive warehouses – the Maltmagasinet from 1881 and Lagerkælder from 1969 – that were left empty and abandoned for years; the warehouses were carefully transformed with respect to their unique characteristics and history, with custom-made designs, interiors and a sophisticated visual identity have been added to bring Hotel Ottilia into a new time period.

The Hotel Ottilia has 155 rooms, a wellness area, conference rooms, and a restaurant at the roof of the hotel that has a 360º degree view of Copenhagen. The hotel distinguishes itself with circular window sections, mirroring the 60 golden circles that decorated one of the warehouses – circular discs decorated with gold foil attest to a brewery characterised by wealth and aesthetic strength.
At the very top of the hotel, is located the timber penthouse floor with a copper roof, while the two lower floors of the project make up an exclusive wellness area where the old vaults and white Carrara marble make a swim in a total of eight different pools a very special experience.

Inside the Hotel Ottilia, one can find the original concrete structures and steel beams, to give an appearance of raw and simple design; old silos and building, and machinery parts are also visible and contribute to the historic and authentic style that underlines the story of a hotel with an exceptional character.
The design and architecture of the Hotel Ottilia were performed by the Arkitema Architects and Mette Freskild, and they provided Brøchner Hotels with a unique luxury boutique hotel to their collection.
