F. Scott Fitzgerald favorite French Riviera Hotels

brabbu_banner-meio-artigo

In the moment that the famous writer and his family needed to find “a new rhythm to our lives” as Fitzgerald wrote, they left their home on Long Island for the South of France, hoping to find a cheaper place to live and some quietude do write. They traveled through the then-cheap French Riviera Hotels. Many of the sunbaked restaurants, villas, and hotels they frequented still exist on the mythic stretch of coastline he dubbed “a playground for the world.”

Here’s where to walk in the  French Riviera Hotels in the same way that Fitzgerald did.

F.Scott Fitzgerald favorite French Riviera Hotels 1Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Antibes

The stately Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, in Antibes, France, has held court on the rocky Côte d’Azur since the 1870s—playing host to everybody from Hemingway and Picasso to Liz in Dick to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. The world’s most glamorous have flocked to Hotel du Cap since Scott’s day: his friends Gerald and Sara Murphy, the models for Dick and Nicole Diver, once rented the hotel for an entire summer, drawing compatriots like the Fitzgeralds, Ernest Hemingway, and Pablo Picasso into their magnetic orbit. Of course, nowadays the hotel is packed during the summer and is the virtual center of the universe during the Cannes Film Festival.

F.Scott Fitzgerald favorite French Riviera Hotels 2La Colombe d’Or, Saint Paul de Vence

Opened in 1920 as Chez Robinson, an open-air terrace cafe, and bar. Scott and Zelda have known fans of the hotel’s restaurant, a traditional French spot featuring the main dining hall, private room, and garden terrace, reportedly spending many a raucous evening at La Colombe D’Or. It was here that a jealous Zelda once threw herself down a flight of stairs after Scott drunkenly flirted with the dancer Isadora Duncan.

F.Scott Fitzgerald favorite French Riviera Hotels 3Hotel Continental, Saint-Raphaël

While Gerald and Sara Murphy were living at the Hotel du Cap, waiting for renovations to be completed on their retreat Villa America, the Fitzgeralds stayed at the Continental Hotel in Saint-Raphaël in 1924. It’s here that Scott wrote the majority of The Great Gatsby.

Monte-Carlo Casino, Monte Carlo

“Once in the middle twenties, I was driving along the High Corniche Road through the twilight with the whole French Riviera twinkling on the sea below. As far ahead as I could see was Monte Carlo … when life was literally a dream.” – On Authorship, Scott Fitzgerald. Monte Carlo Casino was a favorite destination for the couple, mentioned frequently in their letters and writings.

Here, the hard-reveling couple would drink themselves into a stupor, with Scott reportedly a fan of the hotel bar’s gin fizz and mint juleps.

Ruhl Plage, Nice
Zelda wrote of dining on the terrace where “stars fell in our plates … and we were alone with the deep blue grandeur and the filet de sole Ruhl, and the second bottle of champagne.”

Hôtel Beau Rivage, Nice

The Hotel Beau Rivage was another spot where the couple stayed and played—although, in Zelda’s words, more “economically” than at other spots. Today, the hotel has been renovated, offering air conditioning, a private beach, and a terrace front restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean.

F.Scott Fitzgerald favorite French Riviera Hotels 8Hôtel Belles-Rives, Juan-les-Pins

In 1926, Scott, Zelda, and Scottie returned to the Riviera and rented a seaside house in Juan-les-Pins. Take note of the letter from Fitzgerald to Hemingway in 1926, framed and on display in the lobby: “With our being back in a nice villa on my beloved Riviera (between Nice and Cannes) I’m happier than I’ve been for years. It’s one of those strange, precious and all too transitory moments when everything in one’s life seems to be going well.”

In November 2014, Paris Inn acquired a 3,130 sq m property located at 23-25 rue du Pont-Neuf in Paris. Built in 1866, it was the headquarters of Celine, the French luxury fashion house. Respecting the soul of this building and its Haussmannian facade was key, therefore Paris Inn worked with Atelier Cos — an architecture firm in charge of the renovation of Ritz — and Alexandre Danan for interior decoration. After 21 months of work, the old building has transformed into an elegant five-star hotel with 60 rooms and suites, a restaurant by Rostang, a Spa Cinq Mondes and a swimming pool.

Contract furniture against the wall does not guarantee a larger room. On the other hand, breathing room around the furniture leads to the appearance of more space.

Functionality is appreciated everywhere these days. The same goes with restaurant design. Sneak a way that works the best for your project.

You would not know how the magic of thinking big can do it’s charm in the most beneficial ways unless you try it. This is the ultimate way of thinking that makes luxurious interiors open and uncluttered.

There is nothing bad to tell about the classic way which truly is design-friendly, except that it makes luxurious hotels appear smaller. Keep it in mind and better stick with pale white, cream, grays and blues.

A little structure is never a bother in life. Here and only here you can sort your favorite items judging by color and height. A potential disaster is suddenly turned into a display of personality. Voila beautiful interiors!

5 Incredible Hospitality Design Trends for 2017

We really pay attention the opinion of the Design Experts. They just share insights on the hot hospitality design for 2017, and we want to share with you.

Zillow Digs, Kelly Hoppen, David John Dick and others announced the top five design trends for 2017.  Are you curious to see what trends made the list?

Golden Fixtures

Interior Designers will no longer be limited to silver or stainless steel fixtures, and will feel free to mix and match finish colors, or go bold with all gold,” according to the Zillow Digs report.

Mixed Metals

Designer Kelly  says mixing warm metals, such as copper and rose gold, with cool ones like silver is particularly hot right now. Los Angeles designer Jamie Bush agreed, saying he is no longer interested in matching every metal finish in a single room: “It’s too staged.” Try to play with those matching in your future hospitality projects.

Lapis Blue Mood

Several designers are developing a case of the navy blues.  Los Angeles designer Sasha Emerson hailed the color’s versatility: “It plays so well with other colors, such as pink, cream, gray, coral and sage.” Architect Barbara Bestor ’stried-and-true: Benjamin Moore’s Old Navy mixed with a little black. Plus this is one of the  Pantone colors of the Year.

Painterly Rugs

Whether it looks like a Motherwell or a Monet, a rug that is visually fluid with irregular patterns breaks the grid of rectangular spaces and contract furniture!

Smoky Glass

Kelly Wearstler opts for smoked glass to “strike a tension between raw and refined, masculine and feminine.” That smokiness “adds a sense of mystery and intrigue to an otherwise typical material,” she said.

Presidential Suite of Fouquet’s Barrière in Paris

Presidential Suite of Fouquets Barriere in Paris Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière in Paris served as a place where President Sarkozy spent the night of his election triumph.

Presidential Suite of Fouquets Barriere in Paris

Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière is situated between the Champs-Elysées and George V Avenues. Blending tradition with modern comfort, the guest rooms at Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière are decorated by famous designers. Moreover, the sweeping marble staircases, gilded mirrors, mahogany furnishings, and miles of velvet in Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière may reference tradition, but the clean curves, cutting-edge high-tech amenities, and bubbly, down-to-earth service unabashedly emphasize its relative youth. The rooms include a free minibar, a private bathroom with bathrobe and slippers.
