BAR DECOR IDEAS TO STEAL FROM FOUR SEASONS KUALA LUMPUR BY AB CONCEPT

Asian culture has been an inspiration for restaurants, hotels, and bar, for a long time, but in this last 2 decades approximately, we are witnessing a growth in contract projects featuring these features, showcasing an array of traditional details while merging and bringing balance between colonial to create a level of luxury and sophistication. Today we show you a synonymous of this with a Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur, where you can easily steal Trigona lounge bar decor ideas designed by AB Concept.

Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur has opened its doors in the city’s Golden Triangle district, unveiling three unique spaces by Hong Kong-based interior design studio AB Concept. Curated by co-founders Ed Ng and Terence Ngan – Yun House, The Lounge at Four Seasons and Bar Trigona merge colonial and Asian influences, paying homage to Chinese and Malaysian heritage.

Guests entering Yun House, the main restaurant interior design dining area, are greeted by a decadent courtyard-style reception, complete with an onyx table and an elaborate pewter back panel. Paying tribute to its country – the world’s largest pewter producer – the panel is entirely bespoke with patterns of plum blossoms, orchids, bamboo and chrysanthemum flowers. Together these flowers represent the Four Seasons known as the “Four Gentlemen” in Chinese artistry.

Evident throughout the hotel interior decor, and most apparent in the ‘a la carte’ dining room area, the use of high ceilings and natural light channel Malaysia’s longstanding tradition of socializing in gardens, and therefore serve to invite the vibrancy of the outdoors into the courtyard common areas.

Directly overlooking Kuala Lumpur’s central park, The Lounge at Four Seasons is a lavish veranda-style space located on the sixth floor of the hotel. Boasting pale wooden accents, The Lounge naturally integrates with the urban scene beneath. With a calming ambiance and rattan details, the space exudes opulence while paying homage to the city’s colonial history.

Through skilful use of marble details, this seating area is a symbolic adaptation of typical colonial arrangements which have been thoughtfully combined with custom Malaysian structures. Together these elements provide a holistic illustration of the blending of cultures.

Bar Trigona can be accessed through a discrete entryway within The Lounge at Four Seasons into an intimate space filled with deep, luxurious textures. The single access point is disguised by panelled doors to allow the area to remain disguised. Adorned by calming shades of imperial blue and teal, elegantly complemented by timeless pendant lamps which grace a monumental ceiling, Bar Trigona poses as a reserved escape from the surrounding vibrant restaurant interior design.

Incorporating leather, glass, and bronze, materials traditionally used in Malaysian crafts, the bar decor ideas embrace the connection to the cityscape backdrop, whilst the use of shutters on surrounding columns draw on the connection between Eastern culture and Western colonial influence.

Yun House, the main dining area at the 209-key property, was inspired by past Canton voyagers and is fronted by a decadent courtyard-style reception, complete with an onyx table and pewter back panel. In a nod to its native country – the world’s largest pewter producer – the bespoke panel features patterns of plum blossoms, orchids, bamboo and chrysanthemum flowers, which together represent the four seasons known as the ‘Four Gentlemen’ in Chinese artistry.

LOUNGE LUXURY DECOR: THE WORLD’S FINEST ICONIC LOUNGE BAR SEATING

What would your dream bar lounge luxury decor look like? Do you enjoy the simplicity or perhaps you prefer an eclectic mix of colour, texture, and pattern? Whatever your preference is, the design and style of a lounge room is an important core to any hospitality project. By incorporating key elements and decor styles, you can create an iconic lounge bar seating, as the following examples.

The Gallery at Sketch London

Created in collaboration between stalwart French chef Pierre Gagnaire and restaurateur Mourad Mazouz. Since it opened in 2002, has been one of the worldwide most buzzed lounge bar seating.  Designed to combine fine dining with music and art, this is a Mayfair institution that’s unlike any other London restaurant. Here, the two Michelin starred cuisine of Gagnaire takes center stage in a series of eclectic dining rooms, alongside fine wines and a series of inventive cocktails.

Quirky is perhaps the first word that comes to mind when describing the décor here, from the Lecture Room & Library, which was imagined by interior designer Gabhan O’Keeffe, to the modern European Gastro-Brasserie, The Gallery; a space that’s instantly recognizable for its distinct pink décor and witty artwork, the walls here have been decorated with 239 of the celebrated artist David Shrigley’s drawings.

The soft pink interior, which was designed by India Mahdavi, incorporates complementary copper accents and playful design features from pink velvet upholstered chairs to ceramic tableware designed by Shrigley. This playful decadence and contemporary design sit harmoniously alongside the grandeur of the dining room’s herringbone marble flooring and domed ceiling.

In the moment that the famous writer and his family needed to find “a new rhythm to our lives” as Fitzgerald wrote, they left their home on Long Island for the South of France, hoping to find a cheaper place to live and some quietude do write. They traveled through the then-cheap French Riviera Hotels. Many of the sunbaked restaurants, villas, and hotels they frequented still exist on the mythic stretch of coastline he dubbed “a playground for the world.”

Here’s where to walk in the  French Riviera Hotels in the same way that Fitzgerald did.

F.Scott Fitzgerald favorite French Riviera Hotels 1Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Antibes

The stately Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, in Antibes, France, has held court on the rocky Côte d’Azur since the 1870s—playing host to everybody from Hemingway and Picasso to Liz in Dick to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. The world’s most glamorous have flocked to Hotel du Cap since Scott’s day: his friends Gerald and Sara Murphy, the models for Dick and Nicole Diver, once rented the hotel for an entire summer, drawing compatriots like the Fitzgeralds, Ernest Hemingway, and Pablo Picasso into their magnetic orbit. Of course, nowadays the hotel is packed during the summer and is the virtual center of the universe during the Cannes Film Festival.

F.Scott Fitzgerald favorite French Riviera Hotels 2La Colombe d’Or, Saint Paul de Vence

Opened in 1920 as Chez Robinson, an open-air terrace cafe, and bar. Scott and Zelda have known fans of the hotel’s restaurant, a traditional French spot featuring the main dining hall, private room, and garden terrace, reportedly spending many a raucous evening at La Colombe D’Or. It was here that a jealous Zelda once threw herself down a flight of stairs after Scott drunkenly flirted with the dancer Isadora Duncan.

While Gerald and Sara Murphy were living at the Hotel du Cap, waiting for renovations to be completed on their retreat Villa America, the Fitzgeralds stayed at the Continental Hotel in Saint-Raphaël in 1924. It’s here that Scott wrote the majority of The Great Gatsby.

“Once in the middle twenties, I was driving along the High Corniche Road through the twilight with the whole French Riviera twinkling on the sea below. As far ahead as I could see was Monte Carlo … when life was literally a dream.” – On Authorship, Scott Fitzgerald. Monte Carlo Casino was a favorite destination for the couple, mentioned frequently in their letters and writings.

The Hotel Beau Rivage was another spot where the couple stayed and played—although, in Zelda’s words, more “economically” than at other spots. Today, the hotel has been renovated, offering air conditioning, a private beach, and a terrace front restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean.

F.Scott Fitzgerald favorite French Riviera Hotels 8Hôtel Belles-Rives, Juan-les-Pins

In 1926, Scott, Zelda, and Scottie returned to the Riviera and rented a seaside house in Juan-les-Pins. Take note of the letter from Fitzgerald to Hemingway in 1926, framed and on display in the lobby: “With our being back in a nice villa on my beloved Riviera (between Nice and Cannes) I’m happier than I’ve been for years. It’s one of those strange, precious and all too transitory moments when everything in one’s life seems to be going well.”

NH Collection Madrid Suécia

The Suecia opened in the 1950s and for decades the hotel was a meeting place for Swedish residents in Madrid. Star designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán has cleverly remodeled the ground and mezzanine floors, where Art Deco details mix smoothly with contemporary Scandinavian style in the stylish restaurant and café. Definitely, a place to slither off a bar stool after one too many Daquiris.

Urso Hotel & Spa

The Urso opened at the end of August 2014 in an early 20th-century palatial building. Although it is in the center of Madrid, a muted palette of cool green, gray and cream tones and delicate Japanese prints create an air of calm and discreet chicness. Black and white photographs throughout the hotel give a fascinating insight into how the city has changed over the last century.

Gran Meliá Fénix Hotel

The hotel’s interior highlight is undoubtedly the lobby. Take a seat in one of the red velvet banquettes, and drink in the scene: a vast, circular room supported by Ionic columns made from yellowed, fibrous marble, and a palace staircase at one end. The room is crowned with a modernist stained-glass dome fizzing with color and decorated with impressions of noble ladies with sausage curls.
